Official Rules – Treasure Trove Toronto Local Hunts
Contest Name: Treasure Hunt Adventure by Treasure Trove Toronto
Objective: The Treasure Hunt Adventure contest is a relay-style treasure hunt where participants receive text messages to visit local businesses. Completing the relay qualifies them for a draw for the grand prize, with additional door prizes available during the event.
Eligibility:
- Participants of any age may join the Treasure Hunt Adventure contest. However, to be eligible to win prizes, participants must be 18 years of age or older.
- Only Ontario residents are eligible for prizes.
Entry Method:
- To enter, participants must send a text message with the designated keyword to the Treasure Trove Toronto toll-free phone number.
- After sending the text message, participants must complete an online registration form available on the official Treasure Trove Toronto website.
- Each registered participant can enter different hunts but only once per hunt.
Entry Fees: There are no registration fees, participation fees, or purchase requirements. No purchase is necessary to play or win.
Contest Dates and Times: Dates and times for the Treasure Hunt Adventure events will be determined for each specific hunt and may vary.
Winner Selection:
- Winners are selected through a random draw.
- Grand Prize winners are selected from participants who successfully complete the adventure relay.
- To claim their prize, winners must also complete a skill-testing question.
Prizes:
- The contest will have one grand prize winner.
- Door prizes and registration prizes will be determined for each specific Treasure Hunt Adventure event.
Entry Collection: Entries for the contest are collected through website registrations and by participants who complete the relay within the official event hours.
By registering and participating in the event, participants agree that their contact information (including name, email address, and postal code) may be shared with event sponsors and the specific businesses they visit during the hunt for marketing and communication purposes.
These businesses may contact participants independently of Treasure Trove Inc., including through marketing emails. Treasure Trove Inc. is not responsible for the content or frequency of such communications. However, every effort will be made to ensure that participating businesses comply with Canadian anti-spam laws and follow industry best practices for consent-based email marketing.
Winner Notification: Winners will be notified by telephone, text message, and/or email. The draw for winners will be broadcast via Treasure Trove Toronto’s official social media channels.
Claiming Prizes:
- Winners have 48 hours to claim their prize by contacting Treasure Trove Inc. by phone.
- To claim the prize, winners must confirm their identity and answer a skill-testing math question.
- Prizes may be delivered electronically or in person, depending on the nature of the prize.
Restrictions: Employees and family members of Treasure Trove Inc. are ineligible to win prizes in any Treasure Hunt Adventure contests.
Additional Rules:
Tiebreaker: If two or more participants achieve the same results, a tiebreaker mechanism will determine the winner. The details of the tiebreaker will be communicated to affected participants.
Disqualification: Participants can be disqualified if they engage in fraudulent or inappropriate behaviour, or if they violate the rules and guidelines of the contest.
Right to Terminate: Treasure Trove Inc. reserves the right to terminate or disqualify any participant who violates the rules or acts against the spirit of the contest.
Submission Ownership: Participants grant Treasure Trove Inc. the right to use their names, likenesses, photographs, videos, and any content generated during the contest for promotional and marketing purposes, including but not limited to social media, press releases, and website materials.
Force Majeure: Treasure Trove Inc. is not responsible for any failure or delay in the event due to circumstances beyond its control, including but not limited to acts of nature, government regulations, labour disputes, or other unforeseen events. In such cases, Treasure Trove Inc. may, at its discretion, reschedule the event or take alternative actions.
Amendment Clause: Treasure Trove Inc. reserves the right to amend, modify, or change the rules and procedures of the contest at any time. Any such changes will be communicated to participants through text messages and posted on the official Treasure Trove Toronto website.
Publicity: The names and prize details of the winners may be publicly disclosed via social media, press releases, and the official Treasure Trove Toronto website. Participants consent to this publicity as a condition of entry.
Indemnification: Participants agree to indemnify and hold Treasure Trove Inc., its affiliates, and their respective officers, directors, employees, and agents harmless from and against any and all claims, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses incurred during their participation in the contest. Treasure Trove Inc. is not liable for communications sent independently by event sponsors or participating businesses.
Expiry of Prizes: Prizes awarded during the Treasure Hunt Adventure contest are subject to expiry dates. Winners will be informed of any expiration dates, and it is the responsibility of the winners to claim and utilize their prizes within the specified timeframe.
Event Cancellation: In the event that a Treasure Hunt Adventure event needs to be cancelled or postponed due to unforeseen circumstances (e.g., extreme weather, emergencies, or other situations), the contest administrators reserve the right to reschedule or cancel the event. Information regarding rescheduling or cancellation will be communicated to participants via text messages and on the official Treasure Trove Toronto website.
Event Variation: Treasure Trove Inc. reserves the right to modify the events, hunt locations, or rules of the contest as necessary. Participants will be informed of any such modifications through text messages and the official Treasure Trove Toronto website.
Alternative Prize: If a winner is unable to claim or accept the originally offered prize for any reason, Treasure Trove Inc. may, at its discretion, provide an alternative prize of equal or similar value.
Governing Law: This contest is governed by and subject to the laws of Ontario, Canada. Any legal disputes related to the contest will be resolved in the courts of Ontario.
